Available:July - October

Heta Murasaki Nasu (Eggplants)

  • Thin skin and soft flesh
  • Rounder and smaller than regular eggplants
  • Delicious when pickled overnight or eaten in a stew, and recommended in dishes that do justice to their cute round shape

Unsure when cultivation started, but widespread cultivation began in the Meiji period. Suited for soil that drains quickly but retains moisture, this eggplant is cultivated in the Sakiura district of the Saigawa basin.
